The Treatment of Typhoid Fever by the Woodbridge Method in India

چکیده
The fact that I have been unable to find, in back numbers of the Indian Medical Gazette, any recorded results of treatment of typhoid fever by this method, and that none of my medical friends conld give me personal experience of it, must be my excuse for venturing, on the very insufficient basis of three cases, to submit this paper.* Dr. Woodbridge claimed, and American literature would appear to bear him out, that the treatment, " if commenced early enough, will abort, shorten and greatly modify cases ; that there is no tendency to relapse, no unfavourable complications; and that the bad effect of proj longed stimulation is done away with : "

Influence of awareness programs by media in the typhoid fever: a study based on mathematical modeling
In this paper, we propose and analyze a mathematical model describing the effect of awareness programs by public media on the prevalence of Typhoid fever. A threshold quantity $R_{0}$, similar to the basic reproduction number is derived. We investigate the biologically meaningful equilibrium points and their local stability analysis. The global stability analysis has been performed with respect...
متن کاملManagement of Typhoid Fever and Bacterial Meningitis by Chloramphenicol in Infants and Children
Chloramphenicol inhibits protein synthesis in bacteria and is usually bacteriostatic but is bactericidal against Haemophilus influenzae, Streptococcus pneumoniae, and Neisseria meningitis. Chloramphenicol penetrates all body tissues well. The cerebrospinal fluid concentration averages 60% of the serum level, while brain levels are 9 times higher because of high lipid solubility of this drug. Ch...
متن کاملComparative Pharmacokinetics of Levofloxacin in Healthy Volunteers and in Patients Suffering from Typhoid Fever
The aim of this study was to characterize the effect of typhoid fever on pharmacokinetic parameters of levofloxacin (LF) and compare the pharmacokinetic parameters of the said antibiotic in healthy human volunteers and patients with typhoid fever. Total of 12 subjects were divided into two groups “A” (healthy volunteers) and “B” (typhoid patients). Single oral dose of LF 500 mg was given and 5 ...
متن کاملCan Typhoid Fever Be Aborted?
time cases of typhoid fever, which had been cut short in the second or third week, have been reported, and it has not always been possible to beg the question by assuming an incorrect diagnosis. It would, however, be very difficult to make such an easy assumption in view of the long list of cases recorded by Dr. J. E. Woodbridge of Cleveland, Ohio, at the late meeting of the American Associatio...
متن کاملکوندرودیسپلازی متافیزال معرفی دو بیمار مبتلا به نوع Schmid
Typhoid fever is an endemic disease in Iran and other developing countries. This disease has gradually become resistant to the first line of drugs, and because of this resistancy we have studied a new alternative drug (cefixime) on typhoid fever patients and compared it's effectiveness with chloramphenicol. For this purpose, by a randomized clinical trial in Emam Khomeini hospital between 1995-...
